About Helen Jane Planchet

Picture
Helen Jane Planchet was born and raised in New Orleans, LA where she attended the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) for musical theatre, appearing in productions such as Jane Eyre the Musical and The Who's Tommy. While attending Loyola University, she continued to perform locally at Tulane Summer Lyric, The National World War II Museum, Jefferson Performing Arts, and more.

After college she traveled the country, landing in Los Angeles for several years where she worked as a tour guide for the world famous Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood while still pursuing theatre. While in California, she performed as Princess Elena in Princess Elena's Musical Grand Arrival at the Disneyland Resort, Agatha in Guys and Dolls at Musical Theatre West, and as the understudy for Antonia in Man of La Mancha at a Noise Within.

She also met her husband, Thomas Kresge, while in LA and they have since collaborated on several projects with Helen as a featured vocalist, including The Game Brass albums Snowtopia and Brassino Isles. Their most recent collaboration was on the track "Simple and Clean" from Kingdom Hearts on the March Caprice Concert Soirée -Double Time Album. All albums can be found on Bandcamp and streaming services.

In 2019, Helen was cast in Tuacahn Amphitheatre's outdoor summer season (Disney's When You Wish, The Little Mermaid, and the Sound of Music), leaving LA to live in Ivins, UT for several months. Upon her return to LA, she appeared as Annie in It Shoulda Been You at Musical Theatre Guild in February of 2020. This would be her last production in LA before she and her husband moved to the NYC area in the midst of the pre-vaccination era of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finally in close proximity to the city of her dreams, Helen threw herself into auditioning and training. She advanced her studies of musical theatre performance through Broadway Vocal Coach with coaches like Cynthia Kortman Westphal (music director for the Broadway and national tour productions of Come From Away), Chelsea Wilson (Associate Vocal Coach for Off-Broadway's Masquerade), Erin Wilson (longtime cast member of Wicked on Broadway and on tour), and Kaitlyn Davis (Christine Daae in the Phantom of the Opera national tour).

In 2026, Helen portrayed Olive Ostrovsky in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Barnstormers Theatre in Tamworth, New Hampshire, earning a nomination for outstanding performance in a leading role in a musical by the New Hampshire Theatre Alliance. Other recent credits include Soprano Ensemble in Patience and Yeoman of the Guard with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Sarah (Ragtime)/Dorothy (The Wiz) in Broadway in Black at Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota, FL, and a soloist in You're Gonna Love Tomorrow: A Stephen Sondheim Evening in Brooklyn, NY.

When she's not performing, Helen enjoys spending time with her husband and their two cats, Hermes and Persephone. Helen is an avid cocktail enthusiast, having spent much of 2020 learning about the art of cocktail making. She has over 70k followers on TikTok, where she has made content about her time working at theme parks, musical theatre, and more. She also loves to sew, draw, and paint.

Coming up in 2027, Helen is excited to be returning to her hometown of New Orleans to perform in the Jefferson Performing Arts production of Les Misérables in the role of Éponine.
